Pierce Laboratory Seminar Series & MMEC Seminar Series:  Analysis and Optimization of Extruded Thin-Walled Beams

Please join us for the Henry L. Pierce Laboratory Seminar Series with Haim Waisman, Professor and Chair of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at Columbia University. In this talk, Waisman will address "Analysis and Optimization of Extruded Thin-Walled Beams." Thin-walled beams are widely used in engineering due to their favorable stiffness-to-volume ratio, but they are also prone to complex mechanics like buckling, warping, and fracture. In this seminar, he will present a new topology optimization framework for designing thin-walled beams manufactured by extrusion  This seminar is in person in 3-370.

MIT CEE Student Life Panel

Join us to learn more about graduate student life in MIT's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Connect with current MIT CEE graduate students and learn more about their experiences in the the programs, living in Boston/Cambridge, and life outside of the lab. Please note that our student panelists will not be able to answer admissions questions or give advice. This is purely to gain insight to the student life and culture at MIT.
